It started with a simple idea.
Our research at the time showed there was no regular networking event bringing people together from across the broader industrial sector. Existing opportunities tended to sit around expos, associations or specific industries.
So we created The Toolbox Industrial Networking Night — the kind of networking event we would actually want to attend ourselves: relaxed, welcoming and commercially relevant, with no pressure to pitch, refer or perform.
It has since become affectionately known simply as The Toolbox.
We’ve seen some great things happen for people who have become part of the Toolbox community. Sometimes a conversation leads to a useful introduction. Sometimes it becomes a referral, collaboration or new business. Sometimes it is simply a good conversation with someone who understands the world you work in.
That is exactly what we hoped to create.
The first Toolbox Industrial Networking Night was held in August 2025. What began as a monthly event has now grown beyond the room into a broader network, connecting people through events, membership, jobs and the relationships that develop between them.

Doreen started The Toolbox Industrial Network with 20 years of experience working with businesses across manufacturing, engineering, construction and related industrial sectors.
Through her work in business development and marketing, Doreen saw first-hand how valuable the right relationships can be — and how few regular opportunities existed for people across the broader industrial sector to build them, without being sold to.
Doreen created The Toolbox to be deliberately different: relaxed, welcoming and community-led, with no hard sell, no forced referrals and no pressure to pitch.
People come to meet others who understand their world, have useful and enjoyable conversations, and build genuine relationships.
The commercial opportunities that follow are a natural outcome, not the starting point.
